Overview

The Ritu Information API identifies the traditional Hindu season (Ritu) for a given date, time, and geographical location. The Hindu calendar recognizes six seasons, known as Ritus, each representing a distinct phase of the traditional annual cycle.

The six Ritus are Vasanta (Spring), Grishma (Summer), Varsha (Monsoon), Sharad (Autumn), Hemanta (Pre-Winter), and Shishira (Winter). This seasonal classification is an important part of traditional Hindu calendar systems and can be used to display seasonal information in Panchang applications and Vedic astrology software.

The API returns the Ritu number and name, including its English seasonal equivalent where available. To retrieve Ritu information, provide the year, month, date, time, latitude, longitude, and timezone. You can also configure the observation point as geocentric or topocentric. The result is returned in JSON format for easy integration into web applications, mobile apps, Hindu calendars, and astrology platforms.
